I came to England with a Transport in January 1939, and my parents were left behind in Berlin. They subsequently died at Auschwitz. My father was a Judge but was dismissed from his post quite early on. He hoped to get out of Germany and realizing that he could not get a job in England in his own profession, he tried to learn a trade. He chose photography and every now and again sent me samples of his work.
The picture of a vase with flowers was in one of the last letters I had from him and my mother. It was a very early colour slide and I still have it.
